Week 4
Thanks to dear friend Di for joining me for a quick walk today during my lunch break. The walk was good for our heart health and it didn’t rain which was great! We chatted and tried to solve the world’s problems - well, some of them- while we walked. That walk brought my kilometres up to 105.3 - quite a bit past my target which was 84km. The funds raised so far are up to $1,375 which is fabulous, but it would be great to exceed my previous record of $1,500. If anyone has been meaning to make a donation, but hasn’t yet got around to it - now would be a great time as this marathon challenge draws to a close. Thanks again to all my friends and family who have supported and encouraged me. Once again it is personally rewarding to know that although Len Bettess is no longer with us he continues to do good, as he always did.Week 3
Week 3 and I have passed my goal in kilometers walked 👣 but not in the amount 💲raised! Although I set my personal target at $1,000 I am secretly (well, not so secretly now!) hoping to beat the amount I raised two years ago when my fabulous family and friends helped me raise $1,500 for the Heart ❤️ Foundation.Week 2
Week 1 - getting started
The first day of the cricket season was a great time to really get stuck into this challenge. Sitting on the park bench at Ainslie Park Cricket Club watching Dillon and the team play their first match was a great reminder of why we are doing this fundraiser. If not for a cardiac arrest Len would have been sitting with us watching and cheering on our son play cricket. It is so sad that he isn’t there each week as he loved watching our kids play sport. He loved spending time with family and our friends at the club. So yesterday I walked many laps of the field whilst I watched the game - which they won! Len’s family and friends would really appreciate it if you would either sign up for MyMarathon yourself or donate here to raise valuable funds for the Heart Foundation. If you knew Len do so in his memory. If you didn’t, do so to help avoid other families going through what happened to us. Thank you.Support my challenge for Australian hearts
This October, I’ll be doing my personal best to raise funds to support The Heart Foundation.
I’m going to conquer 84 km to raise funds for heart disease research that will help save lives.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Australia, and I want to do something to support the thousands of Aussies whose lives are impacted by this disease every single day.
Join me and help save Aussie hearts by making a donation to my page.
Together, we can win the race against heart disease.
