Support my challenge for Australian hearts
I am doing MyMarathon 2023 in honour of my daughter Mikayla. She was diagnosed early 2021, and completed this in October 2021. Unfortunately due to her declining health, she is unable to fundraise this year, so I have stepped in to partake for her. She is just about to undergo her third heart surgery, and is struggling day in, day out because of this disease. Mikayla was born with an incredibly rare defect on her atria which causes a plethora of issues, she also suffers from; atrial tachycardia, valvular regurgitation, POTS and Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I am wanting to partake in MyMarathon this year to raise as much money and awareness surrounding heart disease as possible, and break the stigma that it only effects the elderly, as Mikayla was diagnosed shortly after she turned 18. Her 21st birthday is in October, and she wanted nothing more to partake in this fundraiser as she does, however unfortunately her heart health does not currently permit it. As such, I will be fundraising on her behalf. Even if you can spare $1, it could benefit greatly.
This October, I’ll be doing my personal best to raise funds to support The Heart Foundation.
I’m going to conquer 42 km to raise funds for heart disease research that will help save lives.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Australia, and I want to do something to support the thousands of Aussies whose lives are impacted by this disease every single day.
