What is MyMarathon?
MyMarathon is a fitness and fundraising challenge that encourages everyday Australians to run, jog or walk 42.2 kilometres at their own pace during October, while helping to raise vital funds for lifesaving heart disease research. You can do it on your own, or as part of a team with friends or colleagues.
Where is MyMarathon?
You can do MyMarathon anywhere, from your backyard to your local park or beach, to running laps of a city block.
When is MyMarathon?
The challenge runs from 1 - 31 October. But you can choose to run it in a day, pound it out in a week or walk it in a month-long commitment to better health - MyMarathon is the fundraising race where you set the pace.
How do I reset my password?
If you can’t login to your fundraising page, there may be an issue with your password. To reset your password, click on ‘Login’ and select ‘Forgot password’.
How can I join a team?
You can join a team by clicking on the "Join us" button on the team’s fundraising page.
How can I create a team after I’ve registered?
Once you’ve registered, you can create a team by clicking ‘CREATE A TEAM’ on your fundraising dashboard.
Do you have anything to help me with my fundraising?
The fundraising page on our website has lots of tips and templates to help you raise money. But one of the easiest ways is to ask family and friends.
Where do the funds go?
By participating in the MyMarathon challenge, you’ll be helping the Heart Foundation:
- Continue to fund more than 200 lifesaving research projects across the nation at any one time.
- Fund important risk reduction programs such as Heart Foundation Walking, which had over 48,000 walkers last year. Getting people up, moving and (importantly) keeping them out of hospital through healthier habits and activities.
- Keep critical support services such as the Heart Foundation Helpline open and helping Australians impacted by heart disease. Last year more than 24,000 people were provided help and guidance thanks to generous donors like you.
How can people donate?
Ask your friends and family to donate directly to your fundraising page. That way the money will come to the Heart Foundation automatically, and they will receive a tax receipt instantly. If you’ve been given cash, you can donate the money to your fundraising page on their behalf using a credit or debit card.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
How do I change my fundraising goal?
If you hit your fundraising target before 31 October, consider increasing your target! Simply log in to your fundraising page, click on ‘Edit My Page’ and update your fundraising target.
I received a donation on Facebook but it isn’t appearing on my page?
If you created a Facebook post by clicking ‘support charity’, Facebook will add a donate button to your post. This button takes donations through a third-party so they won’t appear on your fundraising page. For privacy reasons we cannot confirm donations that are received in this way, however if “National Heart Foundation of Australia” is selected you can be confident the donation will come through to us.
To avoid this, we recommend not selecting ‘support charity’ on Facebook. This will ensure all donations appear on your page, allowing you to thank everyone who donates to you.
How do I log my kilometres?
You can log your kilometres in two ways:
Link your fundraising page to a fitness tracker or app:
- Download the FitBit or Strava app on your smartphone. After creating an account with your preferred app, login to your MyMarathon account and head to the ‘My Fitness Activity’ tab to connect to your fitness app.
- Please allow 24 hours for your activity to show up on your fundraising page.
Log your kilometres manually
- Log in to your online fundraising page and head to the ‘My Fitness Activity’ to record your activity.
What happens if I forget to track my kilometres?
You can manually add kilometres in two simple steps. First, log in to your fundraising page and select ‘MyFitness Activity’. Then under ‘Add activity’, enter the date and distance. Your additional kilometres will then appear on your fundraising page.
Can I start tracking kilometres before 1 October?
Yes! You can connect your fitness device and start tracking your kilometres as soon as you sign up. But these training kilometres will be cleared on 30 September, the day before MyMarathon starts.
How will I know when I’ve finished MyMarathon?
If you log your kilometres, we’ll email you to let you know when you’ve reached the 42.2 km finish line! If you’re up for more of a challenge, you can increase your distance goal.
Can I change my distance goal?
Yes, you can set a distance goal that suits you. Simply log in to your fundraising page, click on ‘My Fitness Activity’, set your target distance and save changes at the bottom of the page. Setting a goal that is personally challenging will make others more likely to support you.
If you are after the Ultra Marathoner badge, you’ll need to complete a minimum of 84.4 km over the month of October.
How will I know if I’ve won a MyMarathon singlet or cap?
You will receive an email from us letting you know that it’s on its way.
